Graeme Dingle Foundation: Helping Young Kiwis Find Their Purpose

The Graeme Dingle Foundation was founded in 1995 by Sir Graeme Dingle and Jo-anne Wilkinson, Lady Dingle, to tackle negative youth statistics in New Zealand. What began as the Project K Trust has since evolved into one of Aotearoa’s leading charities in child and youth development. With programmes now reaching nearly 27,000 young people every year, the Foundation has a lasting impact on tamariki and rangatahi aged 5 to 24 across 10 regions.

Programmes like Kiwi Can, Stars, Career Navigator, and Project K are built on research-backed methods. They provide young people with life skills, resilience, and confidence to navigate challenges and build a better future. Participants engage with mentors and inspirational leaders, helping them stay in school, set goals, and avoid high-risk behaviours.

The Graeme Dingle Foundation partners with universities to measure real outcomes. Research shows its programmes improve behaviour, boost academic results, reduce truancy and substance abuse, and help young people develop a more positive outlook on life. Since 1995, more than 411,000 students have taken part.

At its heart, the Foundation believes every child deserves the chance to succeed. As Sir Edmund Hillary, one of the first Trustees, once said: “It’s all about the kids.” Whether through mentoring, school-based support, or community programmes, the Foundation ensures young New Zealanders are equipped to thrive and become their own heroes.

The Graeme Dingle Foundation continues to lead with purpose, proving that doing good is powerful—but proving it works is even better.
