By Alex Teh, Chillisoft CEO

Since I started at Chillisoft 3 years ago, we have been eagerly anticipating the launch of ESET’s unlimited cloud solution. ESET’s first venture into a cloud solution with their cloud admin (Sub 250) solution was a great success in NZ with over 500 sites adopting the solution. The idea that the vendor will now be responsible for the compute and the updates of their product was highly attractive to NZ SMB’s. The fact that the solution was priced reasonably, and it was the simplest product to deploy (under 2 hours) made it compelling for many customers. However, the solution had its limitations. It was a product that could not handle more than 250 seats, it did not work for mobile devices, it did not support EDR (Enterprise detection and response), and it could not be multi-tenanted.

ESET, in conjunction with Chillisoft, is proud to announce the release of ESET Protect Cloud bundles. A solution with no seat count limitation, supports mobile security in the same console, supports encryption, supports multi-tenancy for MSP’s and supports EDR (ESET Inspector), and zero-day cloud protection (Dynamic threat defence). This is truly the biggest release ESET has done for many years.

As you can imagine, with Chillisoft supporting over 500,000 seats of ESET in NZ and the Pacific Islands, we get to see all sort of support calls and cyber breaches that occur in our customers. Most if not all the breaches occur because customers were on older versions of management consoles or endpoints. Many of those breaches occurred because unsecure remote access (RDP) was available with no MFA and the ESET product was simply removed from the endpoint before the ransomware payload was delivered.

With over 22 years’ experience is cybersecurity, it is safe for us to conclude that if customers do not keep their security products up-to-date, they might as well not be paying or using the solution. I truly believe that one of the biggest benefits of ESET Protect Cloud is the fact that ESET will now be keeping the solution updated, which removes the pain of having to upgrade the OS, the product version, and hence reducing the risk of breaches in general. We can safely state from 1st hand experience that with over 500 cloud admin sites deployed in NZ, that there has been little to no breaches that have occurred with those customers in the 2 years since its release.

ESET protect Cloud will be made available via many different bundled options that give customers the option to pick and choose the combination of security products that best suit their needs.

In conclusion, we truly believe this is the most significant announcement from ESET for many years. This product has been in development for many years and is now ready for SMB, MSP, and Enterprise customers. We are hosting a webinar on the 18th of Feb.
