The first-ever CybersecCon was more than a conference. It sparked a new era for New Zealand’s cybersecurity community.
Held in Auckland in 2019, the event drew over 200 attendees from across the industry. IT professionals, CISOs, analysts, vendors, and newcomers all showed up. What began as a bold idea became a high-energy day filled with insights, community spirit, and purpose. The agenda was strong. Speakers from across the sector shared real-world advice and future-focused commentary. From keynotes to expert panels, attendees got a clear view of the challenges and solutions shaping the local landscape.
True to its mission – for the community, by the community – CybersecCon encouraged open connection. There were no apps or digital walls. Instead, it was live Q&As, face-to-face chats, and natural networking. Whether deep in a workshop or chatting over coffee, the vibe was warm, useful, and energising.
Then came the evening. Attendees were invited on a relaxed boat cruise into Auckland’s harbour. New connections turned into friendships, and ideas flowed just as much as the excitement. The cruise was a perfect close to a day that showed how strong the local security community could be.
